As a faithful rider of MBTA buses, with all their eccentricities, I have to say the latest move to affix special metal plates to the bottoms of buses to protect them from the crap roads in Boston is just absolutely silly. While it seems like there was one particular road that severely damaged 21 MBTA buses, I think I have a forward-looking solution for the city.
Fix the damn roads already. Otherwise I'm starting a drive for the city to affix metal plates to the bottom of my car, to protect my investment from the crap roads. As a taxpaying Massachusetts resident (for the moment), I wonder every day where my money goes. I wrote previously about how our bloated state budget concealed education spending abuses. However, I don't think slimming down a bloated budget will fix the prevalence of silly, silly ideas. Starving the beast doesn't work if this is the kind of bright idea that gets whatever money is left.
